GERMANY: TC Electronic introduced a host of new products at last week's ProLight+Sound show in Frankfurt. The Konnekt Live audio interface and the C400XL dual gate/compressor (pictured) are among the latest items from the Denmark-based manufacturer, writes David Davies.

The Konnekt Live audio interface for live performances is said to offer extensive output routing that enhances the audio passing through via its built-in DSP and optimised analogue output section, and comes bundled with Ableton Live Lite 6 TC Electronic Edition and two DSP effects: Fabrik R Live and Fabrik C Live. Other features include a three-band master compressor with MINT (Meta Intuitive Navigation Technology) user interface, and the ResFilter plug-in.

The C400XL dual gate compressor is designed for use by audio professionals on the road and in the studio. TC Electronic multiband dynamics technology enables users to compress a variety of sources - from vocals and percussion to guitars and keyboards - while a special 'Mix' control allows parallel compression without complicating routing schemes. Designed to complement both analogue and digital consoles, the C400XL's specification also includes high resolution input, gain reduction metering and threshold LED indication.

Meanwhile, TC Electronic has joined forces with Tube-Tech for the Tube-Tech CL 1B plug-in for PowerCore. Based on patented component emulation technology, the new plug-in brings the analogue sound of the CL 1B compressor/limiter to the PowerCore and Pro Tools platforms.

TC Electronic also chose Frankfurt to unveil a number of new effects pedal products, including the first two items in the new Nova Pedal Series: the ND-1 Nova Delay and NR-1 Nova Reverb both offer studio quality effects in a compact floor-based design. The company also announced a new member of its Vintage Series of analogue pedals, the Vintage Octa Screamer, which is said to enhance the tone of the original octavia pedals while eliminating the gating problems at low volumes associated with the original design; and the V1 Volume and X1 Expression pedals, designed to give players more complete control of their guitar effects. G-Natural, a multi-effects processor for acoustic guitar due to be made available this summer, also made its debut last week.
