UK: Shure Distribution UK has announced plans for a special offer designed to encourage pro-audio customers to trade up to newer products at this year's Sounds Expo. The technology event for musicians, DJs, producers and engineers - scheduled to take place at London's Olympia 2 from May 1st to 3rd - will also afford a showcase for new items from suppliers including Sony Oxford and Universal Audio, writes David Davies.

The initiative proposed by Shure Distribution UK - whose brand portfolio includes Shure, QSC Audio, Phonic, Sound Devices and Radial - invites visitors to bring their used audio equipment to the company's stand (251), where they will qualify for a minimum _10 rebate when they purchase a new product. The offer is in addition to special show prices.

"At Shure we value our customers and as such would like to give them the opportunity to trade up to the next level in pro-audio," says Shure Distribution's David Mensah.

Among other exhibitors this year be SCV London, whose stand will showcase the new DSP series of Genelec near-field monitors. Meanwhile, Source Distribution will highlight products from several manufacturers, among them Universal Audio's UAD-1e Extreme Pak and UAD-Xpander system. The distributor will also present new items from PreSonus, Lynx and Sony Oxford, whose new Limiter for TC Powercore will be highlighted alongside Native versions of the entire suite of Oxford plug-ins.

A total of 70 exhibitors also includes Arbiter, Audio-Technica, Digidesign, Korg, Mackie, Sennheiser, Shure, TC Electronic and many others.

At press time, over 3,000 tickets had been sold for an event that is expected to attract 6,000 visitors over three days.
