Saffron Records has launched a womxn-only course on the basics of Ableton Live and music production, located in Bristol.
The Saffron for Sound Music Production course presents a supportive and creative environment for womxn to learn Ableton Live alongside other womxn. It runs for 6 weeks in partnership with dBs Music, located at the dBs Music Bristol FE Centre. It is ideal for beginners who are looking to explore music production and build their own track from scratch using Ableton live.
Saffron was established by founder and creative director, Laura Lewis-Paul, in 2015, through the Princes Trust Enterprise Scheme as a Social Enterprise, with an aim to “create safe, single sex learning environments for the education of women which encourage confidence, creativity and curiosity”.
The course consists of 2-hour sessions every Tuesday from 8-10pm: 7th May, 14th May, 21st May, half term break, 4th June, 11th June, 18th June.
The course will be lead by Tugkan Mutlu who will teach the following:
- Fundamentals of Ableton Live
- Programming Midi
- Drum programming (Midi and Audio)
- Overview of synthesis
- Recording audio
- Audio effects processing (EQ, Compression, Reverb, Delay, Distortion and Modulation)
- Introduction to critical thinking
- Mixing and mastering
- Building a track
Google Classroom is used to communicate with the tutor and classmates throughout the course and afterwards, which enables a great space for continuing music production exploration.
