Founded by Cyril Jones in the early 1970s Raindirk Audio is still very much in business and has teamed up with S&P Productions to distribute the specialist company's range of pres, EQs and DIs, writes Jim Evans.

The microphone amplifiers and equalisers in the Raindirk Symphony console designs, with their low-noise platform and wide uncoloured frequency response, lent themselves to a wide range of audio recording. Symphony consoles were installed in over 17 recording mobiles throughout Europe and Scandinavia with many others finding their way to Australia, North America and Canada including a one-off special, designed for Disney Studios.
