CEDAR Audio unveiled an upgrade to its flagship CEDAR Cambridge Series III audio restoration and speech enhancement system. Version 6 offers four new processes and is said to represent a "significant addition" to the system's batch processing capabilities.

Gordon Reid from CEDAR Audio tells PSN-e: "When we introduced CEDAR Cambridge in 2003, it was perceived by most users as a tool purely for use in audio restoration, albeit with a wide range of applications such as restoring film soundtracks, music restoration and audio forensics. But it was always rather more than that and I think that, with the latest enhancements, it will now be recognised as having a much wider appeal, particularly in pre-mastering and mastering where its combination of excellent dynamics processes, EQs and, of course, the new Reshape process might - maybe even should - revolutionise how people approach compiling disparate recording of speech and music.

"Imagine taking a dozen recordings - some in the studio, some live, maybe even by different bands in different eras - and being able to compile them into a coherent whole in which each track sits comfortably alongside all the others. Now imagine being able to do this as a batch process, not by having to struggle with each one individually. That's what CEDAR Cambridge now offers, and I must admit that I am very excited by the possibilities that this suggests."

Lectrosonics introduced the SMV and SMQV Series transmitters, which feature Lectrosonics' patented Digital Hybrid Wireless technology from their 400 Series product group. The SMV transmitter features selectable 50 mW and 100 mW settings, while the SMQV offers selections for 50 mW, 100 mW and 250 mW. Both transmitters are also splash- and sweat-proof thanks to the specially-designed, machined-aluminium housings. The new SMV Series transmitters also incorporate a variable high-pass filter that enables custom-tailoring of the units' audio response for speech or full-range programme material.

Neumann highlighted what it describes as the first digital shotgun mic, the KMR 81 D. The new product is informed by the design of its analogue counterpart and takes the form of a short shotgun mic with a pick-up angle of 90 degrees and "almost frequency-independent" damping of sound originating from the side. Other features of the mic - which will be available from spring 2010 - include Solution-D circuit technology and extensive setting storage capabilities.

NTi Audio showcased its new "handheld flagship", the XL2. The new device - which is tailored for live sound, installed sound, studio, service and environmental noise measurements - incorporates a sound level meter, acoustical analyzer and audio analyzer. Together with the measurement microphones M4260 (Class 2, pictured here with the XL2) or M2210 (Class 1 frequency response), the XL2 is said to provide a precise sound level meter for the monitoring of live sound events and environmental noise.

NTP Technology showed the Penta 725 series compact modular audio router designed for sound recording studios, post-production facilities and mobile production vehicles, as well as television and radio broadcasting. The Penta 725 accommodates up to 384 x 384 crosspoints into a compact 1U 19" chassis, while 64 AES3 stereo and four MADI inputs/outputs can be accessed for interfacing digital audio sources.

Solid State Logic highlighted a new upgrade to its Duality console and DAW control surface. Improvements evident in the new edition, Duality SE, include the introduction of Ethernet connection between the console and DAW host computer; new dual layer DAW control, enabling Duality to control two DAWs simultaneously with seamless switching of hardware surface controls between manipulation of each DAW layer; a refreshed Duality Logictivity Browser with new features, a streamlined user interface and new visual appearance; and 25 individual feature additions to Duality's analogue side.

Other companies showing new products included Bricasti Design (M7M Reverb Processor Mainframe), Phoenix Audio (DRS8 eight-channel microphone pre-amp) and Radial (Workhorse lunchbox frame incorporating full mixing capabilities to a stereo bus, monitor output and headphones).
