PL + S: One week to go

With little over a week to go until Prolight + Sound, several new product releases have been announced.

There is little over a week to go until Prolight + Sound 2014 and the following new product releases have been brought to the attention of PSNEurope:

Alcons Audio will be launching two new compact loudspeakers, the first of which is the RBN202 2” pro-ribbon driver, a micro monitor for use in a wide variety of applications. Secondly, the smallest of Alcons B-series subwoofers will be released, featuring a long-excursion 12” woofer in a reflex-loaded configuration, as a low-frequency extension for the smaller V-series monitors.

Outboard will exhibit the first of a new suite of TiMax networking interfaces. The new MADI-64 and Dante-64 Connectivity devices fit into the rear option slots of the TiMax2 SoundHub audio showcontrol matrix and playback server to provide 64channels in and out on the respective transport protocols.

DiGiCo’s D2-Rack will be on display at Prolight + Sound. The unit comes with either BNC or CAT5 MADI connections, allowing it to be used with a number of DiGiCo consoles. Managing director James Gordon, says: “The D2-Rack means we are able to open up the full 96kHz potential of the SD8, SD9 and SD11 with this next generation of I/O conversion is an impressive upgrade.”

“The D2-Rack allows users to get unrivaled audio quality at a total system latency of just over 1ms. It was very well received at ISE and we’re anticipating even higher level of interest at Prolight + Sound. We’re also excited to be exhibiting with united-b for the first time. The team has worked hard to put together a fantastic, new-look stand which brings a new dimension to our presence at Prolight + Sound,” adds Gordon.

NTP Technology has announced the release of the DAD DX32 digital audio bridge and router interface. According to the company, the DAD DX32 is designed for audio applications such as multi-room recording studios, post-production facilities and audio distribution installations. It allows all digital input and output routing to be managed within a single unit or a combination of units.

The DX32 can also be used to expand I/O channel count and interface digital components, providing a high quality bridge between AES/EBU, MADI, Pro Tools HDX and the Dante IP audio network.

VUE will debut the new hs-20 subwoofer with Active Compliance Management (ACM) technology. VUE Audiotechnik’s CEO Ken Berger, says: “The hs-20 clearly shows that the performance advantages of ACM technology actually increase as the physical size of the enclosure decreases.”

Berger continues: “While both the hs-28 and hs-25 easily outpace any subwoofer near their size, listening to the hs-20 while looking at its compact frame clearly demonstrates the ability of ACM to dramatically change the performance benchmark for compact subwoofers from this point forward.”
