NAMM 2016: AKG unveils new headphone line

The new K52, K72 and K92 headphones feature large 40mm drivers, a wide frequency response and come at an affordable price point

AKG has unveiled a new line of headphones at Winter NAMM 2016. Designed to be budget-friendly without compromising on sound quality, the new K52, K72 and K92 (pictured) models provide exceptional comfort and long-lasting yet lightweight construction.

The new headphones feature large 40mm drivers that offer a wide frequency response for detailed sound and low impedance for compatibility with both personal music players and professional gear.

All three models weigh in at only 200 g (7oz) thanks to the open headband design, which reduces the overall weight of the product and offsets the inclusion of large drivers.

“It takes a high degree of innovation and engineering focus to deliver this level of performance at these accessible price points,” says Peter Chaikin, Recording Solutions, Harman Professional. “With the launch of the K52, K72 and K92 headphones, AKG has demonstrated its commitment and expertise in delivering value to music recording customers.”

With a frequency range of 18 Hz – 20 kHz, the K52 is ideal for listeners who demand detailed sound when rehearsing and tracking. The K72, meanwhile, features an extended frequency range of 16Hz – 20kHz. The K92 leverages the benefits of the K72 while extending the high-frequency performance to 22 kHz.
