GERMANY: Achieving a smooth changeover from ISDN and other synchronous networks to IP will be among the topics up for discussion at a forthcoming seminar series examining audio-over-IP. Organised by MAYAH Communications, the events will be held at the company's headquarters near Munich Airport, writes David Davies.
The event series - taking place at a time when more and more broadcasters are investigating IP-based transmission of audio and video signals - will also consider Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for professional use in the broadcasting industry and audio-over-IP in wireless networks, among other subjects.
Seminars in German will take place on October 15th and 16th, and November 26th and 27th. English-language sessions, meanwhile, are scheduled for November 15th and 16th, and January 17th and 18th.
"Resuming the successful workshop series on Audio-via-IP, we at MAYAH believe, will help industry professionals to get a deeper understanding of the IP-based multimedia signals transmission and thus the knowledge for easier operation and even more efficient work," says Detlef Wiese, MAYAH's co-founder and general manager. "It is also important to mention that the packet-based networks as an alternative to the traditional dedicated lines or synchronous networks such as ISDN don't end with a LAN/Ethernet infrastructure. [Consequently] we will also address the known issues for IP audio transmissions over satellite, wireless LAN and even UMTS/3G/3.5G links."
