US: Water, mud and horse manure are among the unlikely constituents of the successful entry, reports David Davies. The memorably-named Badger Koon retrieved his Mackie SRM 450 Active Speakers from a mudslide, washed them out and is still seeing good service from them.

"To this day they sound good as new," notes Badger (pictured). "And they are loud! My Mackie speakers sound great for all the events I produce."

Launched earlier this year, the '20 Years Running Contest' encouraged Mackie customers worldwide to submit product stories, photos and videos highlighting their memorable experiences with Mackie gear over the years. The winning entrant received a pair of Mackie HD1531 High-Definition Powered Loudspeakers and a 1604-VLZ3 Compact Mixer, valued collectively at US$4,000.

John Boudreau, Music Gear Group v-p at LOUD Technologies, commented: "We're always stoked to hear about the beatings our gear survive, but some of these contest stories were totally insane. We had fun going through all of the entries, but the final decision was tough_ especially when you get stories like a VLZ surviving a dishwasher's pots and pans cycle. But we had to give the winning prize to Badger Koon with his 'muddy' disaster story - check it out on our contest page."

The contest page containing Badger's story, among many others, can be found via the first link below.
