Radio and television presenter Lauren Laverne is to host the 2013 Music Producers Guild Awards, which take place at the Café de Paris in London on 7 February 2013. The MPG revealed Laverne’s role as the Awards’ nomination period came to a close.

An award-winning presenter, Lauren began her career in the music industry as a member of the indie band Kenickie. She entered the world of broadcasting in 1996 when she joined London’s XFM, before moving to BBC 6Music where she now hosts a daily show.

Steve Levine, chairman of the Music Producers Guild, says: “We are delighted that Lauren will be part of our 2013 Awards ceremony. She is immensely experienced and has a deep understanding of the music industry, both as an artist and a presenter. Her obvious love of music makes her ideally suited to host an event that recognises the recording professionals whose creative talents contribute so much to the hit records we all enjoy.”

The 2013 Music Producers Guild Awards offers the perfect opportunity to mingle, network and rub shoulders with many of the industry’s most celebrated recording professionals, artists and decision makers.

Nominations for the awards closes tonight, Friday 12 October, at midnight. “While the number of nominations for next year’s awards has already trebled the number of nominations for the 2012 awards, there is still time for those yet to vote to get their nominations in,” says Levine.

Those yet to nominate are reminded that nominations are free of charge and that all projects and music related to the nominee must have been commercially available as a physical or digital product between 31 July 2011 and 1 August 2012.

Now in its fifth year, the 2013 Music Producers Guild Awards will once again be presenting a BRIT Award for Best Producer to the winner of its UK Producer of the Year category. A total of 18 gongs will be awarded, recognising more contributions to the music industry than ever before.
