MALAYSIA: Sound, lighting and AV systems supplier Orange Events took delivery recently of an L-Acoustics KUDO system for use at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The new acquisition had to be capable of handling large events at the site’s 3,000-seat Plenary Hall auditorium, reports PSN-e.
Following close collaboration on the project with Yusof Ahmad (Sennheiser Electronics), and Allen Chan and Paul Cheng (Acoustic & Lighting PVT), Orange took delivery of a ‘Phase One’ system consisting of 12 KUDO units and four SB218s. All were rig-tested in the Plenary Hall utilising Soundvision 3D software.
Blurr Wong, managing director of Orange Events, commented: “The KUDO systems’ total flexibility in horizontal coverage, thanks to creative engineering ingenuity and KUDO-exclusive K-LOUVER adjustable directivity, was the primary factor in the design considerations – not to mention the sound quality of L-Acoustics WST line arrays.”
“Our focus has always been on facilitating a ‘total event planning’ scenario,” added Adam Mather-Brown, director of operations at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. “Orange’s efforts in this certainly [make] them a vendor with a difference.”
In the wake of a KUDO-utilising event featuring Jimmy Barnes and Mondo Rock, the new system will soon be used for a performance by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
Meanwhile, in the wake of a positive response to the initial acquisition, Orange Events has confirmed plans for a further ‘phase’ consisting of six KUDOs and two SB218s.
