Focusrite has announced the launch of the Saffire PRO 26, the latest addition to its award-winning Saffire PRO range of FireWire/Thunderbolt-compatible audio interfaces.
Designed with both studio recording and live musicians in mind, the Saffire PRO 26 features a total of 18 inputs and eight outputs – including four preamps, two instrument inputs, two headphone outputs, six line outputs, and ADAT and S/PDIF connectivity.
Like all Saffire interfaces, Saffire PRO 26 connects to a Thunderbolt port via a FireWire to Thunderbolt adaptor, or directly to a FireWire 800 port.
Focusrite says the Saffire PRO 26’s four preamps “allow unparalleled recording flexibility and ensure low noise and distortion with plenty of headroom to capture the full dynamic range of even the loudest drum kit or guitar amp,” while its 24-bit/96kHz digital conversion and JetPLL jitter-elimination technology “maintain pristine audio quality in both analogue and digital domains”.
Also present is Saffire Mix Control – a control software application that runs on the host computer – and a low-latency 26 x 8 DSP mixer/router with flexible output routing and monitoring for custom monitor mixes. Intuitive one-click presets “help [the user] set up [their] session as quickly as possible”.
