DENMARK: The microphone manufacturer worked with Danish energy company SEAS-NVE on the project, writes PSN-e. 'The Human Kind' features the vocals of Maggie Reilly - perhaps best-known for her '80s collaborations with Mike Oldfield - and will raise money for Greening Your Future (pictured), a reforestation project in Durban, South Africa.
The song - which is available as a download from the usual portals - was composed by DPA shipping department employee Bjarne Beltoft and partly mixed by another DPA staffer, Mikkel Nymand. DPA 4015 wide cardioid mics were used on all vocals for the track, which was part-recorded and mastered at DPA's in-house studio. Production duties were handled by Stig Kreutzfeldt.
"We acknowledge our social responsibility, and by taking this initiative we have slowly but surely started to comply with getting involved in something which makes a difference," said DPA's founder and CEO, Morten Stove. "Sponsoring this project was obvious. It makes sense to us, and we really hope that people will help us spread the word and support 'The Human Kind', including those who are not used to buying songs over the internet!"
SEAS-NVE has purchased one download for each of its 650 employees, and DPA hopes the audio community will respond "equally positively" in supporting this worthwhile cause. All proceeds benefit the Greening Your Future reforestation project in South Africa which aims to plant 82,000 new trees by June 2010, thereby removing more than 6,000 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere.
