FRANCE: The alliance between APG France and Martin Professional France, instituted late last year "to develop a shared strategy on the fixed installation market", has yielded its first significant new product development. The installation-oriented MX4 loudspeaker was launched at SIEL 2007 alongside several other new items from APG, writes David Davies.

MX4 (12-inch/1-inch) has been developed to suit a variety of fixed installations, and accordingly has been "equipped with many accessories and options of installation". It was shown at SIEL on a stand that also showcased the new two-way coaxial high power stage monitor SMX15, and the TB118S and TB215S (pictured) subwoofers.

APG also took the opportunity to introduce the Isoline ISL210S, billed as a line array of "high precision and long throw application". The system's horn technology is said to make it possible to obtain a constant directivity of 90 degrees from 500Hz to 19kHz.

This considerable haul of new products follows the announcement in late December that Martin Professional France, APG France and structure outfit ASD had signed off on an agreement that would pave the way to the provision of an all-bases-covered service to fixed installation clients.

Speaking to PSN-e at the time, APG France's St_phane Roche suggested that it was an entirely logical partnership: "We talk the same language - we are both manufacturers." He also noted that Martin Professional - which had previously spearheaded the development of its own Mach loudspeaker brand - was set to benefit from "the knowledge of a company whose core experience is in manufacturing loudspeakers".
