UK: Tannoy and Trantec showed new product at the ABTT Theatre Show, writes David Davies. KV2 Audio, Duran Audio and Allen & Heath were among the other manufacturers highlighting new or recent items at the Association of British Theatre Technicians event, which was held at London's Royal Horticultural Halls earlier this month and reportedly attracted a greater number of visitors than its 2007 predecessor.
From Tannoy came the new VQ Series, billed as an expanding range of loudspeakers designed for any application where precise directional control, outstanding sonic performance and high SPLs are critical. Trantec presented items including the SD7000 professional digital wireless microphone system (pictured), while Alcons Audio showcased its forthcoming LR7 micro-ribbon line array for the first time outside of Germany.
Other manufacturers spotlighting their latest products included KV2 Audio, with the ES and EX Series of full-range, active driven loudspeaker systems; Duran Audio, with the second generation of AXYS Source and Scope systems; d&b audiotechnik, showing the latest additions to the E Series; Allen & Heath, presenting its new digital and analogue mixers, including the iDRo 2U rack processing unit; and Martin Audio, with items including the W8VDX, which is said to combine line array and differential technologies to provide an advanced solution to the requirements of even coverage over wide angles and throw distances.
The next ABTT Theatre Show will be held on June 10th and 11th 2009, and will again be staged at London's Royal Horticultural Halls.
