UK Music’s Talent Pipeline and Music Academic Partnership (MAP) Tour of 2019 has begun, kicking off on Tuesday February 5 at the University of Northampton.

The Tour will see UK Music and UK Music members visiting academic partners and running a series of events for students at multiple universities across the UK about careers in the music industry.

The events will include careers panels, keynote speeches, masterclasses, networking sessions, specialist workshops and performances.

The Tour is intended to engage and inspire the talent of the future of music and encourage individuals from all backgrounds and skills to aim to work in the music industry.

UK Music’s director of Education and Skills, Oliver Morris, said: “Last year’s Tour offered such a great opportunity to speak to the future music industry, reaching 1600 students at events from Southampton to Leeds and Liverpool to London that we have decided to do it again.

“It is a real privilege to meet such a diverse range of young people, all of whom want to forge a career in this amazing industry. It gives them a great chance to meet and advise future artists, musicians, technical crew, lawyers, managers and producers. The list goes on.

“Our members love the opportunity: seeing educational professionals, students and industry representatives meeting and discussing the music industry is very exciting. We all learn from each other at these events and the network continues to grow.”

This year will see BBC Introducing teams join UK Music again, UK Music members and a range of professionals at events across the country.

The Tour is expected to be even bigger this year with new Music Academic Partnership (MAP) members carving out more opportunities to talk careers in the music industry with students and young people.
