UK: Trantec S6 wireless microphones were used exclusively during a segment of the recent Royal Variety Performance, reports PSN-e. The 24-channels of S6 for the performance in question - by Whoopi Goldberg and the cast of the musical Sister Act - were provided by Plus 4 Audio.

For the first time in 50 years, the latest RVP was broadcast from Blackpool, generally regarded as the home of British variety. The venue was the town's Opera House, where comedian Peter Kay introduced acts including Alexandra Burke and Lady Gaga.

"The S6 was the ideal choice for the job," commented Plus 4 Audio MD Stewart Chaney. "It's robust and easy to install. We get eight channels into 2U of rack space, which saves valuable space on-site, and the system incorporates a comprehensive user-interface on the front panel, which allows you to configure and monitor the channels with or without an external PC.

"We have worked with Trantec product for many years and have recently upgraded our stock from S6000 to 48 channels of the new S6. We have also invested in the S7000 Digital system and are really happy with the results we are getting".

The Trantec S6 is Channel 38-ready and compatible with existing S6000 belt-packs.
