What is it? A pair of three-microphone sets for both live and studio drum kit applications. Details Each DD4 and DD5 microphone set consists of an M82 for kick drum, M80-SHB for snare, and M81-SH for toms - differing only in the extra tom mic included in the DD5 set. The M80-SHB is designed for use in snare drum (and vocal) applications where a lower profile microphone is needed. It's essentially the same microphone as the M80 Standard, but housed in a shorter body with a built-on stand mount. Also with a short-body housing, the M81-SH retains the same minimal proximity effect, superior feedback rejection and articulate mid-range of the M80 - but with a slightly restricted top end to create a flatter overall frequency response. According to Telefunken, it's ideal for fattening up toms, percussion and horns, taming brighter vocals or thinner sounding sources. The M82 is a robust, large-diaphragm end-address dynamic microphone designed for kick drum (and vocal broadcast) applications and featuring two EQ switches: Kick EQ and High Boost, designed to offer four unique voices. The M82's Kick EQ switch reduces some of the lower mid-range frequencies (centred around 350Hz) while High Boost tilts the upper mid-range and high frequencies (starting around 2kHz and delivering a 6dB boost by 10kHz) for improved articulation. And another thing... Both DD4 and DD5 sets ship in heavy-duty, hard shell FC80 flight cases and include multiple drum mounts (M782, M784, and M785) and SGMC-5R five-metre XLR cables with right-angled female connectors for each microphone.
