This year’s instalment of the none-more-hip South By Southwest (SXSW) music and film festival in Austin featured a deployment of Riedel’s Acrobat Wireless Intercom System.

The Acrobat Digital Wireless Intercom solution harnesses the benefits of the Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) standard’s base layer. This provides a licence-free, cellular architecture with seamless hand-over between cells, allowing each Acrobat wireless beltpack to continuously monitor and automatically select the best connection to the Acrobat Cell Controller.

The Riedel system was chosen by Austin-based rental and service provider Omega Broadcast Group. It was used by the XI Media staff at the Fiat-sponsored Fader Fort stage and provided the wireless network for the Acrobat WB-2 beltpacks. The wireless system was integrated with a Performer Digital Partyline Intercom via the Performer C44 System Interface.

“[In particular] the crystal clear audio quality and the devices’ durability were the reason for choosing Riedel Acrobat and Performer systems,” said Gabe Proctor, rentals manager, Omega Broadcast Group.
