What is it?
A new model from Peavey’s latest IPR Series of lightweight power amplifiers.
Described as “ultra-lightweight and efficient”, the IPR 1600 delivers 800W per channel into 2 ohms (530W per channel into 4 ohms) and incorporates a resonant switch-mode power supply. Based on a ‘high-speed’ class-D amplifier topology, Peavey’s IPR Series design is said to dramatically reduce weight while increasing power output, reliability and thermal efficiency. Like other IPR models, the IPR 1600’s two-channel design incorporates independent 100Hz crossovers and a variable-speed fan housed in an aluminium chassis. It features DDT speaker protection technology with multi-point clip sampling as part of a range of protection measures that also includes DC, temperature, signal and active safeguards – all of which can be monitored through front-panel LED indicators. Housed in a 2U cabinet, the IPE 1600 includes combo XLR and ¼” input connectors along with combination Speakon and jack output connectors. Total weight is 3.2kgs.
