Orbital Sound’s UMT-2D multi-button and MIDI to USB converter, part of its new Nemesis distribution line, won the ‘sound product of the year’ award at 2014 ABTT Theatre Show.
The award was presented to Orbital’s Richard Carter (pictured, left, with actress Lesley Manville), part of the Nemesis design team, at a joint ceremony hosted by the Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT) and Stage Management Association at the end of the first day of the show (11 June).
Orbital Sound MD Chris Headlam comments: “This is a great achievement for the team behind Nemesis, representing two years’ research and development to create something that has long been missing in the theatre market. The objective is to remove the complexity and often-random nature of computer playback systems – something that has plagued us all at some time.
“It is fantastic to receive industry recognition at Nemesis’s very first début. We are all delighted.”
Nemesis – designed to “address a specific gap in the market for powerful, reliable and flexible show control and audio playback solutions” – was unveiled for the first time at the ABTT Theatre Show on 11–12 June.
