Avid used the first day of the NAB Show (Saturday 11 April) in Las Vegas to unveil the VENUE S6L, its flagship live-sound mixing system.
A big brother to the compact S3L-X, launched at IBC (see IBC2014: Avid announces VENUE S3L-X live sound system), the S6L is a fully modular, scalable mixing system suitable for a range of applications, including front of house, monitors, broadcast and theatre. Featuring the VENUE E6L engine, the S6L offers “unprecedented power to handle huge channel and plug-in counts at the lowest possible latency”. All processing is at 96Hz, although support is offered for higher sample rates.
“In the 20 years since we first introduced the VENUE live-sound mixing system, Avid has continued to be on the forefront of live sound innovation,” says Chris Gahagan, senior vice-president of products and technology at Avid, “and now we are setting an even higher benchmark with VENUE S6L.
“With VENUE S6L, Avid is poised to lead the market forward again with unprecedented processing power and innovative technologies that enable customers to take on the most challenging tours and events with ease.”
Also making their debut for Avid at NAB are the S6 Master Joystick Module, designed for the quick creation of surround-sound mixes in Pro Tools; Interplay MAM 5, a “highly scalable and fully customisable media asset management system to help organisations of any size easily find and gain more value from their media assets, streamline media operations and enable new revenue opportunities”; and the curiously named ISIS 1000 shared storage system. Avid-hu Akbar!
Avid VENUE S6L will begin shipping in Q3 2015.
