According to IQ, Live Nation Urban has announced the launch of Femme It Forward, a programme of all-female music line-ups.
This project aims to give recognition to the women in the live music industry, on and behind the stage. The Femme It Forward shows will donate some of the proceeds from ticket sales to charitable organisations that support women.
The events will see an array of talented female musicians hit the stage, Cardi B, Jorja Smith, City Girls, Jill Smith, Ari Lennox, Teyana Taylor and Mahalia among those already announced. Also part of the programme will be comedy acts, immersive spectacles and panel discussions.
Heather Lowery, Live Nation Urban VP of talent and touring commented: “Since our inception in 2017, Live Nation Urban continues to create opportunities for emerging and established urban artists – both on the stage and behind the scenes.
“This past year has been an exceptional one for women in music and entertainment, and with the incredible contributions of women, it is fitting that we honour the future of music and its continued steps on the path to inclusion.”
Live Nation Urban focuses on R&B, gospel, and hip hop, and hosting events such as Broccoli City Festival in Washington, and Philadelphia’s Root Picnic Festival.
Tickets go on sale for the inaugural event series on Friday April 19 at 10 am EST on the Live Nation website.
