Lab.gruppen IPD Series

Compact DSP amplifiers

What is it? A pair of ultra-compact, “moderately-priced” amplifiers said to offer exceptional I/O flexibility. Details The 1.2kW IPD1200 and 2.4kW IPD2400 amplifiers are both housed in 1U cabinets and offer networked integrated DSP, a 4-channel input matrix plus extensive front-panel controls and graphic displays. With AES3 digital inputs, IPD Series amplifiers can be connected directly to digital console stage boxes, eliminating a D-A/A-D conversion cycle. AES3 inputs can be set for automatic failover to analogue, and input mixing is available for all four inputs. At the heart of the IPD platform is a DSP engine equipped with up to 40 real-time, multi-slope parametric EQs along with adjustable gain, input and output delay plus high- and low-pass filters adjustable to any frequency. All setup parameters for input mixing, DSP features and limiter setting are accessible via the front panel using two navigation buttons, a rotary encoder and backlit display. The GUI is designed for touch-based devices, and enables quick grouping of amplifiers along with intuitive setup and preset storage of all DSP parameters. Individual channel mute buttons are also included and up to 100 user-defined presets may be stored onboard. Full Ethernet-based networked monitoring and control features are available; network configuration is said to be “fast and foolproof”, with automatic discovery and identification of all connected amplifiers. And another thing… IPD Series amps are designed for control at FOH by a computer or – using a WiFi router – a freely roaming iPad.
