What is it?A range of three 2-channel power amplifiers for installation applications, drawing on design philosophies developed for the flagship PLM 20000Q powered loudspeaker management system.DetailsLab.gruppen’s new IDEEA (IntelliDrive Energy Efficient Amplifier) amplifier technology is said to combine high sonic performance with “robust power output” while meeting - or exceeding - the efficiency requirements of Energy Star 2.1 certification. This was achieved by reducing current draw during operating cycles with vigorous program material and high output levels, and reducing power consumption during non-operational cycles.E Series amplifiers incorporate a new high-headroom universal power supply offering high storage capacity to prevent excessive draw on the mains during repeated peak bursts while maintaining extra headroom on the supply rails for sustained maximum output with minimal distortion. Delivering 200W, 400W and 600W, respectively, into 4 ohms, the E 4:2, E 8:2 and E 12:2 models all employ a Class-D output stage offering “inherently bridged topology” allowing up to twice the rated power output on one channel when the other channel is unused or driving a low power application. Also featured is RSL (Rail Sensing Limiter) technology - the latest refinement of Lab.gruppen’s proprietary approach to optimising amplifier output characteristics to match the connected load. Each channel has a two-position switch to set the output for driving either low impedance or high impedance (70V) loudspeaker systems with a +4dBu sensitivity regardless of load type. To conform with Energy Star requirements, E Series amplifiers include an auto-power-down feature activated when no signal is detected for 20 minutes.And another thing… Other E Series features include a 50Hz high-pass filter (switchable per channel), inputs and outputs on detachable Phoenix-type screw terminals and a temperature-controlled fan that turns off for low-level signals.
