Norwegian distributor, Scandec Systemer, has supplied and installed a new L-Acoustics KARA WST line source system into one of Norway’s largest and most prominent venues, the National Theatre (Nationaltheatret), which is located between the Royal Palace and the Parliament of Norway in its capital city, Oslo. The venue held its first performance in 1899, and is still reputed to be Norway’s principal theatre. Since its opening, it has played host to a string of leading dramatic artists, actors, stage designers and composers. The new L-Acoustics system comprises seven flown KARA cabinets and two flown SB18 subs per side, plus a centre array of 10 KIVA speakers, all of which is driven by LA4 and LA8 amplified controllers. The National Theatre’s house technician, Kai Priddy, says he has been using L-Acoustics kit for the venue’s 750-capacity main stage since 2008, so had no doubt about re-investing in the French manufacturer. "We chose the new KARA system because we needed to improve the coverage and power output of our main PA, due to the more demanding shows we are putting on,” Priddy explains. “We have been very happy with the L-Acoustics performance and audio quality so far. Never change a winning formula!" www.l-acoustics.com
