Hungarian rental company Hangharmas recently deployed its newly acquired L-Acoustics KARA modular WST line source cabinets for the fourth Gospel and Soul Festival at the Papp Laszlo Sportarena in Budapest, Hungary. A 10,000-strong crowd attended this year’s event, which took place in early November at the Sportarena - moving location for the first time from the Westend Roof Garden; and featured headline performances from the London Community Gospel Choir and Hillsong London.
Hangharmas recently added 24 KARA cabinets to its inventory through L-Acoustics’ Hungarian distributor Audmax; and supplementary KARA cabinets were supplied for the festival by Czech rental company Rezniczek Touring. The main PA system consisted of 12 KARA cabinets per side; six KIVA with a pair of KILO LF extensions per side for offtstage fill; four SB18 subs flown per side; and 12 SB28s groundstacked: four in the middle, and two cardioid stacks configured L/R. LA8 amplified controllers powered the entire system. Hillsong’s FOH engineer Chris Johnson says he is comfortable working with any L-Acoustics rig; and after tuning the KARA system, gave it a very firm thumbs-up. Audmax’s Miklos Schleer says that some of the big advantages of KARA are its easily integrated rigging system and its ability to carry a serious punch a very long way. “When we pre-set the sound for the engineers, we walked around the entire audience area and realised that the system was louder and even clearer than the dV-Dosc,” explains Schleer. “It has a very powerful and clear sound even from the furthest distance.” www.l-acoustics.com
