The York-based audio hire and installation company describes COHEDRA as “an affordable line array that is of good quality”, reports David Davies. As a result of the recent decision to double up its existing hire stock, HK Audio now possesses an HK Audio COHEDRA inventory of 16 CDR208 mid-hi enclosures and 16 CDR210S subs.
The COHEDRAs are powered by Lab.gruppen FP10000QSP amplifiers, with system control courtesy of HK Audio’s Digital Field Controllers. HK Audio has also recently added eight HK Audio CT112 monitors to its supplies, which also include 12 of HK’s VT115 monitors.
JSS owner Jem Walker says that the company first added HK Audio products to its inventory around 1998. More recently, it committed to the COHEDRA line array after undertaking the first UK live application of the system for a Westlife concert at Hull’s KC Stadium in 2005.
“Both Ray Furze and Steve Levitt, who were working on the show on behalf of Production North, loved the COHEDRA, so that really turned us on to the system,” Walker tells PSN-e. “It’s a good quality, affordable system, and our customers really like it.”
JSS also has HK Audio’s Compact Cohedra (CoCo) groundstackable line array in its hire stock, and frequently specifies the company’s Installation Line. The Courtyard at York University’s Langwith College and The Gallery nightclub – also in York – are among the sites to have been equipped with Installation Line products in recent times.
“Installation is only about 25% of our business, but we have done at least 20 major installs and 100 smaller ones using Installation Line products,” notes Walker.
With regard to the overall state of JSS’ business, Walker is emphatically upbeat. “We’re up about 0.46% on the same point last year, and that was a record year,” he says. “It definitely makes me think that we are doing something right somewhere!”
