Loudspeaker brand Electro-Voice - part of Bosch Security Systems - has given clients and customers a sneak peek of the forthcoming upgrades to its successful X-Line series at the InfoComm event in Las Vegas.
The new models mark "a dynamic step forward in EV’s 85-year tradition of industry-leading innovation", says the company, offering a new range of components that work together to "surpass the performance of other leading line arrays". The design matches a compact form factor with a faster-to-set-up approach, as will be demonstrated in the two models planned for release later in the year, X1 and X2.
Model X1 (pictured) is a compact 12” vertical line-array loudspeaker system designed for small to mid-sized houses of worship, corporate events and so on. it contains three key elements: a Mid-Band Hydra (or waveguide) for superior box coupling; a Wavefront-Shaping Circular Hydra (WCH) for extended linear HF performance; and a new Integrated Rigging System for quick set-up.
Model X2 is a high-performance compact 12” vertical line-array loudspeaker system for larger applications. In addition to the Mid-Band Hydra (MBH) and Integrated Rigging System shared with the X1, the X2 system features two new EV technologies: a 12” neodymium woofer, generating higher output with lower distortion; and an Advanced High-Frequency Hydra for controlled linear HF performance
Both X1 & X2 loudspeakers feature proprietary FIR-Drive performance optimisation; input panels with dual Neutrik NL8 connectors for fast connectivity between speakers; and LAPS (Line Array Prediction Software) for fast array configuration and rigging.
The "streamlined styling" of X1 and X2 make them ideal for use in the live arena and the installation environment, says Electro-Voice.
