In the wake of the Flemish region’s noise level limitation laws, audio-visual company FACE is setting up a series of three seminars on 13 December, writes Marc Maes.
“We want to take the issue of sound level threshold beyond the one-liners and emotions, and provide adequate technical information, look at the pro’s and cons of possible solutions and enhance the interactivity with our clients,” explains Karel De Piere, CEO of FACE.
The goal of the seminars is to inform audio system owners and engineers on the changes brought by the new legislation, which is to become effective by January 2013. De Piere continued: “[Plus] how to operate within the law without denying the concert visitor or clubber a great sound experience - we selected tools to optimize max SPL rather than just presenting killing brick wall limiters and red light ‘sound cop’ machines.”
An introduction on the forthcoming changes in the sound level law will be followed by an address by audio and acoustics designer Peter Van Der Geer. “Peters boasts an impressive track-record, with a longtime expertise in sound level management ranking from the Northsea Jazz festival to the Düsseldorf Tonhalle, combining both acoustic skills with audio engineering experience,” adds De Piere.
A third ingredient in the seminars, and the star of the day, will be the introduction to the Event Acoustics METRAO sound level measuring system.
At press time, some 80 audio professionals had registered to attend the free seminars.
