Every two years, thousands of fans of goa trance descend on a nature reserve in the Swiss Alps, near Savognin, for the Summer Never Ends Festival. For the festival's four days, all technical and sanitary facilities are especially built for visitors and set up on the mountain, along with – for the last eight years – a Kling & Freitag sound system, implemented by Summer Never Ends sound supplier Megatron Veranstaltungstechnik.
A total of three dance floors and a 'chill-out tent' were fitted with Kling & Freitag (K&F) speakers.
The main, 'Butterfly' stage, was equipped with 19 K&F SEQUENZA 10 units on each side, with an endfire array comprising 42 NOMOS speakers at the front. “For the endfire array, we adapted the times of each subwoofer so that we could homogeneously fill the area with up to 300m of sound”, explains Dirk Stirnimann, project manager for Megatron. “This year, we completely relied on the new K&F NOMOS LT, which is fitted with very powerful 2 x 15” loudspeakers, in order to get a fantastic bass foundation, which Goan [trance] music needs.”
The other stages were equipped with combinations of ACCESS, NOMOS XLT and NOMOS XLC systems. NOMOS XLT was launched last year and is fitted with same 2 x 18” found in the NOMOS LT.
“I attach great importance to a good sound, which does not have to be loud," continues Stirnimann, "so the system [ran] over four days at between 98 and 105dB."
Summer Never Ends Festival will return – giant, recyclable butterfly stage (pictured) in tow – will return next August.
