Rental company MSE Tontechnik provided Electro-Voice array modules, loudspeakers and subs for the second annual Burghauser Konzertsommer mini-festival which attracted a 5,000-strong crowd to Burghausen Castle. In August 2010, the second Burgauser Konzertsommer mini-festival took place in the idyllic setting of the inner courtyard of the Castle. The four-night programme included four very different musical performances: famous jazz musician Roger Cicero; Austrian singer Hansi Hinterseer; former Enigma-member Peter Cornelius; and a ‘Night of Musicals’ gala. Despite the cold and wet weather conditions, the events attracted a combined audience of 5,000.The main Electro-Voice PA system provided by Stubenburg Headquartered MSE Tontechnik consisted of twelve flown EV XLD281 array modules per side; four T221M loudspeakers for nearfield coverage; Xi-1152/64F loudspeakers for outfills; and twelve Xsubs. The MSE crew had to deal with a number of challenges. The gates that led into the 60m x 20m courtyard were very small, which meant the gear had to switch to a different transporter for the last kilometre of the journey in; and the risk of reflections from the castle walls also posed a problem.“It’s no easy matter here to deliver sufficient information in the midrange and high-frequency area, as well as a clear bass foundation to the furthest rows,” says MSE’s chief Johannes Schilling. “We really like the EV system because it’s lightweight and it’s a three-way system, which means it’s very flexible and we can change things very quickly if required.” MSE also provided the consoles which were by Yamaha: a brand new M7CL-48es at FOH with the new Yamaha stage boxes and a PM5D on monitors. Stefan Löwen, head of event organiser Creative Concerts concludes: “High-quality equipment that functions flawlessly gives us organisers one less thing to worry about; that’s why MSE-Tontechnik will be my first choice for next year’s event as well.”www.electrovoice.comwww.yamahacommercialaudio.comwww.mse-tontechnik.de
