UK: Unveiled in early October, the Eigenharp is billed as "the most revolutionary new musical instrument of the last 60 years". Developed by Eigenlabs and available in two versions - Alpha (pictured) for pro-musicians, and the more affordable Pico for all levels of player - the instrument allows musicians to play and improvise using a limitless range of sounds with virtuoso skill.

Producer, musician and writer Scanner (otherwise known as Robin Rimbaud) recently revealed on his website that is using an Eigenharp, while Stuart-Warren Hill from electro duo Hexstatic, jazz saxophonist Courtney Pine and movie score composer/producer Hans Zimmer are among the other early adopters.

"Since launching in October, the Eigenharp has been met with critical acclaim," an Eigenlabs spokesperson tells PSN-e. "The Alpha model has sold out until after Christmas. High-profile musicians, arts correspondents and technology editors have been impressed by the Eigenharps' capabilities."

Now, in a competition that is running until February 28, Eigenharp Pico owners are being given the chance to win an Eigenharp Alpha (worth _3,950). They are invited to upload their best Eigenharp Pico performance and composition to YouTube, with the best entries to be judged by a prestigious panel comprising Pine, Zimmer and Eigenlabs founder John Lambert. The successful entrant will receive an Eigenharp Alpha plus a copy of Alchemy and the Big Tone, Atmospheric and Electronic soundbanks courtesy of Camel Audio. More information is available at the Eigenlabs website (link below).
