What is it?A wireless vocal microphone capsule.DetailsThe WL40V has been adapted in wireless capsule form from the SR40V vocal microphone. Designed to maintain the same signature sound as its wired counterpart, the WL40V delivers a “detailed and realistic” vocal sound said to require little or no EQ. A ‘textbook’ hypercardioid polar pattern and extended flat frequency response translate to a natural on- and off-axis performance coupled with benchmark levels of clarity and detail. The frequency response of the WL40V is quoted at 30Hz - 40kHz and maximum acoustic handling at 135dB SPL (based on DC voltage supplied). 10mv/Pa output is provide at 300 ohms impedance with noise quoted at 22dB SPL equivalent (A weighted). The hand-tuned and tested design incorporates a three-ring ‘bulls eye’ connector interchangeable with any screw-on-type handheld transmitters capable of receiving a 1.25”/28-thread pitch (31.3mm/pitch 1.0mm threading) capsule. And another thing…Power requirements are 5V to 12V @ 500µA using the second and outer ring on 3-ring concentric connector.

Garbage resumes touring with Earthworks

It’s been over seven years since the American alternative band last went on tour. Accompanying Garbage’s return to the road is Earthwork’s new WL40V wireless capsule, chosen by FOH engineer Brad Divens.
