Following on from his recent appearance at PLASA Focus: Leeds, Dave Swallow (pictured) will bring his seminar series, ‘The Art of Mixing a Show’, to ENTECH INTECH 2011.
This year’s event will take place from 19-21 July at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Swallow – whose appearance at ENTECH INTECH will be sponsored by PLASA – will explore the key concepts that inform a successful mix as well as considering the use of dynamic processing in a creative way.
An FOH mixer for artists including Amy Winehouse, Seasick Steve, Corinne Bailey Rae and La Roux, Swallow is also the author of Live Audio: The Art of Mixing a Show.
“One of the best audio teachers I ever had was Australian, so I hope I will be returning a favour,” said Swallow. “Everyone, and every culture has their own way of doing things, so it’s pretty exciting for me to get to share what I know, and hopefully get a lot of shared knowledge from everyone attending my sessions. I like to allow plenty of time for Q&As so everyone feels like they are involved. I want to get to know what the fundamental ideas are behind mixing from an Australian point-of-view, and how to be creative with it. Live audio is like a marriage between the room and the band, compromise needs to happen somewhere, but how we do it, and where we do it is very personal. Sharing our thoughts will only help this industry get better and better.”
Nicky Rowland, PLASA director of events, added: “We are delighted to be able to bring Dave and his inspirational sessions over to Australia for ENTECH. The audience response to Dave’s talk at our recent trade show PLASA Focus: Leeds 2011 was incredibly positive and there was a real energy amongst those who attended. We are sure that the visitors to ENTECH will feel the same.”
