Orbital Sound’s sell-out “Mixing Musicals” training course returns on 27-28 August this year, combining theory, practice and a West End show visit within its popular two-day format. Designed to help aspiring theatre sound operators take their show mixing skills to the next level, the two-day course focuses on the practical skills and theory behind best-practice FOH mixing requirements of musicals. Participants will be taken through every stage of the process – from the rehearsal room to setting up a desk in its base state, including the theory, introduction to why line-by-line mixing is so important, and what happens when you don't do it. Hands-on experience is an essential aspect of the course, which includes a trip to the West End for a behind-the-scenes look at a show and the chance to talk to the sound team. Orbital Sound adds new programming suite

Audio solutions provider Orbital Sound has opened a new programming suite in its London-based headquarters, providing a relaxed programming environment for sound designers, producers and engineers.

Orbital to relaunch training seminars

UK: Orbital Sound is seeking to boost sound engineering qualifications in the theatre industry, writes David Davies. The company is reintroducing its multi-day training seminars for students, with the first - the two-day 'Sound Skills for Theatre' - scheduled to take place at the company's South London HQ on October 2nd and 3rd. According to Orbital Sound, the course will provide "an intensive, hands-on look at the technologies and challenges facing theatre professionals in the rapidly advancing world of theatre sound."
