Capital Sound provided sound reinforcement for an exclusive gig with Kylie Minogue at London’s Bloomsbury Ballroom at the beginning of March.
The performance was part of MasterCard’s Priceless London, a series of exclusive offers and events exclusively for MasterCard holders.
Minogue’s 45-minute set featured a full band and four dancers and included songs from her new album Kiss Me Once, as well as some of her best-known hits.
Martin Audio’s new MLA Mini system was supplied by Capital Sound for the gig, which consisted of main hangs of eight MLA Mini, with side hangs of four MLA Mini.
Capital Sound general manager Paul Timmins, explains: “This was only the second outing for us with the new system. It was the perfect tool for the job, as the room had low clearance and lightweight ground support. Weight loading was very limited, but the system weighed in at just under 200kg per side.”
The ground PA included three MSX subs and a WS218X sub per side. Two Martin Audio DD6 Differential Dispersion loudspeakers were clamped to the ground support for centre coverage due to the exceptionally wide stage.
FOH was manned by Kevin Pruce, using an Avid Profile with a DiGiCo SD7. A Sennheiser 2000 series IEM system was used for monitoring purposes and was operated by Matt Napier.
“This was a demanding venue where the choice of MLA Mini enabled us to provide literally a ‘Mini’ arena system for a star used to performing in such venues, whilst undertaking this challenging show in an incredibly small space,” concludes Timmins. “Kevin’s mix was outstanding and the system really did it justice. As Kylie would say, ‘Wow Wow Wow’!”
