What is it?A compact digital console based on a proprietary DSP mix platform and designed primarily for live mixing applications. DetailsThe DM1600 features include 16 motorised faders, hi-resolution TFT colour display and scene recall of all functions. It incorporates 24-bit / 96kHz Delta-Sigma AD/DA converters, specially developed ultra-low distortion EQ filters and “analogue sounding” compressors. According to Cadac, it’s advanced EQ algorithms use proportional-Q techniques to produce “smooth, musical adjustments” said to rival the best analogue designs with low-noise pre-amps offering wide dynamic range. A Central Assignment Module (CAM) controls all input signals, groups, VCA groups, effects and auxiliary sends. Each function has a discrete control with no ‘doubling up’ or menu scrolling, enabling operation of the console to be as fast as an analogue desk. A unique feature of the DM1600 is the Stereo Master Output Module which features EQ and dynamics controls assigned solely to output duties. The central 7” hi-res colour TFT display shows detail views of all parameters along with scene numbers, on-board effects editing and MIDI status. All rotary encoders can be interrogated simply by pushing the control with the value, mode or function immediately displayed. Complex bus routing, auxiliary pre/post assignment, detailed dynamics settings are also shown on this display, leaving more front panel space for quick access to real-time functions. The DM1600 is available with a number of optional extras including a Firewire interface for recording applications and a16-channel rackmount expander module.
