The long-serving MD (pictured here, left, with Soundking Group Europe marketing manager Patrick Almond) is departing to pursue other business interests.

Joining Cadac in 2005, Bob Thomas led the company into a more rewarding phase financially and technologically, with R&D activity being directed across a more comprehensive product range. He was also closely involved with the 2009 acquisition by Soundking Group Company – a development which heralded the recapitalisation of the Cadac business and its R&D programme.

Post-acquisition, Thomas became general manager of Cadac Holdings, and for a period also acted as interim general manager of Studiomaster, which had also been acquired by Soundking Group. As Cadac’s manufacturing became more integrated within the Soundking Group, Thomas was appointed director of sales, overseeing the launch of the first new consoles – LIVE1, CDC Four and CDC Eight – and the appointment of sales development manager Vincenzo Borrelli to open up new distribution channels.

Soundking Group Europe’s Patrick Almond commented: “President Wang, the Soundking Group and everyone at Cadac are immensely grateful to Bob Thomas for everything he has done to turn around the fortunes of this great British audio company and set it on course for a successful future. He has been instrumental in ensuring that the company has the right product, the right strategy and is in the right shape to meet the challenges of an industry that has undergone dramatic change. Everyone here offers him their full support and wishes him every success for the future.”

Thomas added: “Cadac is firmly set on its future course with a great R&D team, fantastic new products, and a dynamic new sales guy in Vincenzo. Now is a natural break point for me to move on to concentrate on other interests that are now demanding my full-time attention.”

As previously reported on PSN-e, Thomas is a key player behind the recently established instrument manufacturing company, Pure Acoustic Ltd, which blends traditional manufacturing skills with the latest materials and technologies.

Cadac in administration: update

UK: MD Bob Thomas believes that the company could find a buyer soon, writes Barney Jameson. Speaking exclusively to Pro Sound News Europe last week, Thomas (pictured) stressed the importance of maintaining the company's R&D team, citing this as the principle motivation for achieving a fast sale. Based in Luton, Bedfordshire, Cadac has been manufacturing consoles with appeal to the recording, broadcast, touring and fixed installation markets since 1968.
