Bristol headquartered rental company King Sound Reinforcement has been serving the south-west of the UK for more than twelve years, and in keeping with the company’s policy of continual investment in rental stock to keep it in step with client demand, has acquired 12 of APG’s SMX15 monitor speakers from its distributor Red Square Audio. King Sound’s now boasts one of the UK’s first significant SMX15 inventories; and owner, Paul King, says he spent plenty of time exploring various other options before he made the decision to go with APG. “I can honestly say that after exhausting testing over a nine-month period of many premium monitor options, the APG SMX15s came out as the clear winner,” he reveals. “Sonically, they are excellent; the multi-position rigging bar gives us a five-angle wedge or infill and the pole mount enables their use as a small FOH box when needed. This, coupled with several flying options, gives us a very versatile box indeed.” King says APG’s support has been of the highest order, and that the French manufacturer was happy to help edit the DSP presets in the boxes to suit his company’s needs; and that Red Square Audio’s Paul Nicholson also provided an excellent service. Nicholson says he is looking forward to many years of collaboration with King and his team. “King Sound is a perfect partner for us. As a company, they are completely open-minded and willing to stake their reputation on what they specify to clients,” he says. “They only want to use systems that deliver the highest quality audio and not follow predictable brand trends. I am certain that their choice of SMX15 will give them a real advantage in the market once their clients have had a chance to use them.” King Sound Reinforcement has established a good working relationship with a number of the major promoters in the UK including SJM, Live Nation and Metropolis; and ongoing contracts include Camel Rock on the Isles of Scilly, The Old Duke Jazz Festival, Venn Festival in Bristol, and Bristol University’s Graduation and Freshers’ balls. www.apg.tm.frwww.kingsr.com
