The Waterboys, Sugababes, Joe Cocker and Sade are among the acts to have benefited from the expertise of Chris Madden (pictured), who is the star of Alchemea’s first Live Sound Masterclass of 2012.

Having started his professional life as a studio engineer, Madden made the transition into live sound through his work with the Waterboys, moving quickly from monitors to front of house. Since then he has worked with acts ranging from James to Charlotte Church.

He has worked at arenas, stadia and festivals throughout the world, and is a major proponent of the Avid Venue console, using the D-Show system at every opportunity.

For his Live Sound Masterclass on 14 March, Madden will talk about his multi-continent tour with P!nk, employing Avid Venue show files and video footage of the show to illustrate his points. He will also discuss how he captures his backline inputs, PA, monitor and FOH system design, session and desk layout, mixing techniques, snapshots and show management.

Tickets cost £28 and can be purchased from the Alchemea website. To reserve a seat on this masterclass email info (a) alchemea.com or call Tony Garston on 020 7359 3986.

Previous mastercalsses have been hosted by Jon Burton and Dave Swallow.
