ADLIB and Soundcraft riding around with Mrs. Brown

The BAFTA-winning comedy hits the road with a new show and a Soundcraft Vi1 console, provided Liverpool-based rental company ADLIB.

After winning for Best Situation Comedy at the 2012 BAFTA Awards, Mrs. Brown and her boys are hitting the road with a new show: Mrs. Brown Rides Again. UK based ADLIB are once again providing tour support, using one of their 11 Soundcraft Vi1 consoles (with Vi6 stagebox) – and a fully supporting line array and optical fibre network. “I really wanted Soundcraft for this … I’ve been using Vi’s for years and there are never any issues whatsoever,” said ADLIB’s system tech Kenny Perrin. “The Vi1 reduces the footprint of the Vi6, with many of the same features — and that’s important when you have a sell-out tour and need to give seats back to the venue.” Perrin has supervised three different sound engineers for this show over a seven-year period, which toured with a Soundcraft GB4 mixer in the early days. The step up in production owes much to the relationship between ADLIB founder Andy Dockerty and the show’s producer, Martin Delany. Delany has previously mixed the sound for Mrs. Brown, plays one of the sons in the production, and also mentored current FOH engineer, Gareth Woods – who mixes the entire show live on the Vi6. “I can’t imagine using anything else now,” he stated. “Everything is right there in front of you, which you need on a show like this. If you have to start digging through menus within menus, then you are too late. This offers more the feel of an analogue board.” www.adlibsolutions.co.uk
