ITALY: UJAZZ is a new limited edition cable developed for "jazz musicians and their sound" by Reference Laboratory, reports PSN-e. Named in honour of long-term associate the Umbria Jazz Festival, the cable helps to convey "the characteristics, dynamics and nuance of jazz instruments in their entirety along the complete sound chain."

The limited edition cable was previewed and listener-tested last month at Umbria Jazz Festival 2009, where Reference Laboratory also handled the audio and lighting production.

According to festival artistic director Carlo Pagnotto, the arrival of Reference Laboratory has heralded a shift in perceptions of the show's technical production.

"Before, there had been some complaints from the press," allowed Pagnotto, "but since Umbria Jazz's friend Angelo Tordini of Reference Laboratory has been in charge of sound reinforcement at Santa Giuliana, there have been no problems - and not only at the Arena, but also at the Carducci Gardens and in Piazza IV Novembre."
