Yamaha-Steinberg collaboration strengthens

This year’s Prolight + Sound saw a further strengthening of the relationship between Yamaha and Steinberg, with strong product integration and distribution changes.

At Prolight + Sound 2012, it was evident that the relationship between Yamaha and Steinberg – which began in 2005 when Yamaha bought Steinberg from Pinnacle systems – has strengthened even further. One of the more exciting pieces of news coming our of this year’s Prolight + Sound was the launch of Yamaha’s new CL series of consoles (read all about the new products in PSNEurope’s report here). The line-up comprises three consoles, the CL1 (pictured), CL3, and CL5, founded on the Centralogic user interface first introduced in the M7CL, and each console comes with a copy of Steinberg’s Nuendo Live – a new multitrack live sound recording software, also announced at PL+S. “Nuendo Live is not only ultra-stable and easy to use, but it integrates seamlessly with the latest generation of Yamaha live consoles,” says Steinberg managing director, Andreas Stelling. “This is another successful example of the strong ongoing relationship between Yamaha and Steinberg.” In addition to the product launches, Steinberg announced that from 1 April 2012, the pan-European distribution of its Nuendo product range will move to Yamaha Music Europe. By moving the Nuendo family of products to Yamaha’s sales and distribution network, Steinberg and Yamaha are now able to offer a broader range of hardware and software system solutions to the commercial audio segment. “We at Steinberg are happy that the continuing collaboration with Yamaha now also brings the well-established Nuendo range to further fruition,” added Stelling. “Steinberg takes this opportunity to thank its customers for their support of Nuendo and is confident that the new partnership with Yamaha will help grow the business even further.” As of now, Steinberg Nuendo resellers within Europe are required to contact Yamaha Music Europe for any sales-relevant information on Nuendo.
