Successful launch for PL+S NAMM Russia

Prolight + Sound NAMM Russia and NAMM Musikmesse Russia launch to bigger-than-expected crowds in Moscow, writes Erica Basnicki.

NAMM Musikmesse Russia and Prolight + Sound NAMM Russia launched successfully this May, reporting 6275 total visitors – more than anticipated – attending the three-day conference. The events also featured 190 companies from 18 countries making the trip to Moscow, Russia. “Most NAMM manufacturer members and global brands in our industry are seeking out growth opportunities in new markets,” said Joe Lamond, president and CEO of NAMM. “Exhibitors told us that they were able to do productive business, deepen relationships with existing contacts and make new contacts during their four days in Moscow. Work on the 2013 shows has already begun, with key exhibitors indicating their commitment to work closely with us to grow these events into the future.” Prolight + Sound NAMM Russia pro-audio exhibitors included Adam Hal and Microtech Gefell, while Allen & Heath, L’Acoustics, Montarbo, Electro-Voice, and Coda Audio were represented by distributors.

“Our opinion is that the new show was a great success – a truly professional event, in terms of organization, profile of visitors, venue, etc. – exactly what our market needed,” said Ekaterina Antonova, from Allen & Heath’s Russian distributor, MixArt. “We also have high hopes for next year’s show. We look forward to seeing more brands and companies represented, to have a dedicated place for demonstrations and possibly more education and learning opportunities for the younger audience – as far as I know organizers are working on all that.” Ekaterina Chukovskaya, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Culture of Russian Federation, congratulated participants on the debut during the official opening ceremony, “The Ministry of Culture granted the official support for both shows as we see a great potential here! This is a very important event for the Russian music market and culture. We hope that after seeing such a variety of modern products and services presented by the exhibitors from all over the world will impress the local representatives of business and will contribute to development of music industry in Russia.”
