SSE road show and shows on the road

SSE Sales have had a busy start to 2012, wrapping up their own road show, and touring Europe with Midas and L-Acoustics.

SSE Sales recently took to the road to showcase various products at its three sites in London, Redditch and Bradford, attracting rental companies, education, councils, installation contractors, and freelance engineers. “The Roadshow format was a new departure for SSE, “commented Alex Penn, SSE Equipment sales manager. “We were particularly pleased to have four key manufacturers on board with us, especially as some presented competitive products. It gave our visitors a great insight into some of the latest pro-audio technology.” Simon Jones from Sennheiser demonstrated the networking capabilities and monitoring available with the latest G3 radio mic systems, while James Baker from AVID presented the VENUE SC48 with the new Stage48. Chris Vass from L’Acoustics presented the new ARCS II, the constant curvature WST line source system. According to SSE, the ARCS II was “a hit, with everyone impressed by their power and musicality.” In related news, another L’Acoustics system was recently deployed by SSE for Chris Addison’s show at Hammersmith Apollo on Feb 29. The KARA system was complemented by flown and ground stacked SB18 subs, and was mixed on a Yamaha LS9-16 console by engineer Steve Seymour. Rounding up the SSE road show demos was Rob Hughes from Midas, who introduced the new PRO2 console that SSE Hire is currently touring with Example in Europe. Monitor engineer Will Nicholson specified the console after using the Midas PRO6 extensively on previous tours in the FOH seat: “I love the sound of Midas consoles (and so do the band) and I needed a board that I could use in smaller clubs around Europe. The new PRO2 is compact but has all the facilities I need and so fitted the bill perfectly.”
