Somix Audio Labs GmbH – co-developer of Studiomaster’s new DIGILIVE 24 console (pictured) – will be formally introduced during a press presentation on the opening day of Prolight+Sound 2011, which takes place at the Frankfurt Messe from 6-9 April.
Based in Southern Germany, Somix Audio Labs is headed up by general manager Dr. Christoph M. Musialik, who is also international R&D director of the Soundking Group.
Somix Audio Labs’ focus is on hardware and software development, and DSP platforms, to provide proprietary technologies and product development across the various Soundking audio brands.
PL+S 2011 will also see the showcasing of the DIGILIVE 24 (pictured) – Studiomaster’s first digital console and a co-development with Somix Audio Labs. While designed primarily as a live mixing console, an optional FireWire interface provides the DIGILIVE 24 with extensive sound recording and production capabilities. Rackmount expander modules provide for extension of the 24-channel mixer up to a 40-channel mix system with one module and 56 channels with two modules.
Operationally, the design combines the ‘feel’ and ‘speed’ of an analogue desk with powerful digital control capabilities, including 16 motorised faders, hi-resolution TFT colour display, scene recall of all functions and more. Specially developed ultra-low distortion EQ filters and analogue sounding compressors, 24-bit Delta-Sigma AD/DA converters, and twin 4th generation 32/40-bit floating-point SHARC processors are also part of the specification.
