FRANCE: The first combined Siel-Satis-Le Radio trade show took place in Paris between October 20th and 23rd, writes David Davies. A total of 34,412 trade professionals and 339 journalists attended the event, which was staged at the Paris Expo-Porte de Versailles exhibition centre.
Focused on “market convergence and innovation”, the event featured a total of 422 exhibitors drawn from the radio, broadcast, audio and post-production worlds.
Notable pro-audio exhibitors included Yamaha, Sennheiser, Innovason, Nexo, L-Acoustics, Meyer Sound, Alcons Audio, Focal Professional, Digidesign, Adam Audio and Genelec.
L-Acoustics was among the satisfied exhibitors (stand pictured). The company drew attention to products including the new Touring Rack LA-RAK and, says director of marketing St_phane Ecalle, felt that the exhibition saw “excellent traffic levels with many qualified visitors. There is a clear segmentation between broadcast and audio/lighting visitors, but this is not a problem.”
Despite this, Ecalle suggests that a shorter duration of three days and modified opening hours – 10am to 7pm, as opposed to this year’s 9.30 to 6.30 – would help to improve future editions of the show.
In addition to the ‘core’ exhibition, the event also featured an extensive conference programme that encompassed subjects including digital radio and personal mobile television, and attracted a grand total of 2,287 delegates.
Associated events the HD Film Festival and International Multichannel Sound Forum were also well-attended, receiving 225 and 130 visitors, respectively.
The next instalment of Siel-Satis-Radio will take place in October 2009. The precise dates are yet to be confirmed.
