A new digital live production flagship from Cadac (the CDC Eight, pictured) heads up PSN-e’s first preview of the 2011 PLASA Show, which takes places at London’s Earls Court next month.

The British console-maker’s third completely new console design in a year, the CDC Eight offers 128 input channels – expandable to 256 – and a standard 48 outputs. Two frame sizes offer 16 or 32 faders, while processing is delivered by eight 32/40-bit floating-point SHARC processors. Other features include two 24-inch 16:10 high-definition LCD touch screens, with a further centre-located 6-inch LCD touch-screen to access system control and automation. Specially developed ultra-low distortion EQ filters, 24-bit/96kHz Delta-Sigma AD/DA converters and advanced EQ algorithms are also part of the CDC Eight package.

Cadac sales development manager Vincenzo Borrelli described the new desk as “Cadac’s killer sound touring console. What really sets it apart – aside from the classic CADAC sound quality – is the user interface, which is truly of its time and totally intuitive to any audio engineer.”

Allen & Heath will be showing various Control Surface and MixRack components from its iLive digital mixing family, as well as the range of audio networking possibilities, including MADI and Dante. Additional control options – including the Allen & Heath PL Series remote controllers, iLive Editor software, iLive Tweak app for iPhone and the MixPad app for iPad – will also be displayed, as will models from the Xone DJ range, the ZED USB compact mixers, and the GS-R24 recording mixer.

EAW will unveil several product ranges to the UK market. Designed for both portable and install applications, the new VF Passive Series comprises five two-way full-range loudspeakers – two subs and three stage monitors. Also on display will be the SBK Line, which is said to ‘perfectly complement’ the MK Series full-range loudspeakers in construction – although they can also be used as standalone subs in a system from any other EAW model. A total of three models are available – SBK150 (single 15-inch), SBK180 (single 18-inch) and SBK250 (double 15-inch) – with applications including concert halls, HoWs, arenas, large ballrooms, theatres and gymnasiums. The QX Series and latest MicroWedge products will also be on display.

Outline is showing large-format line-source system GTO – Grand Touring Outline. The result of a two-year cooperation between Outline and some of the world’s leading rental companies, GTO places a firm emphasis on intelligible output over long distances. The latest addition to the GTO family is the GTO-DF (Down-fill). Mechanically compatible with GTO, the GTO-DF was designed to provide audio coverage for the first rows of the audience in every type of event at which GTO systems are used.

Distributor Sound Technology will showcase new products from Harman Pro brands AKG and JBL. From AKG comes the new DMS 700 V2 digital wireless system with DPT700 bodypack: compatible with the new UK PMSE frequency of Channel 38, DMS700 V2 can arrive pre-loaded with UK-specific frequency presets. The system is also available with a hand-held transmitter featuring AKG’s D7 dynamic capsule.

“The new AKG DMS 700 V2 is the next step in AKG’s pursuit of the perfect, flawless audio signal transmission,” said AKG’s product marketing manager – tour sound, Wolfgang Fritz. “It offers the audio professional ease of use, quick set-up and reliable operation in this demanding industry, even in the most challenging environments.”

Also on the Sound Technology Stand, the new JBL Marquis Dance Club Series loudspeaker range comprises eight models designed to bring ‘a new level of sonic excellence to dance club environments’. The MD1, MD2, MD3 and MD7 ultra-high, mid-high-frequency, low- frequency and subwoofer modules can be combined to create a complete 5-way loudspeaker system that delivers extended high-frequency, high-frequency, midrange, bass and sub-bass capability, with frequency response down to 20Hz and the ability to deliver high volume levels in large spaces. The MD46, MD49, MD52 and MD55 are standalone, full-range loudspeakers that can be used in a variety of room sizes and applications.
