GERMANY: Tannoy and atlantic audio were among those announcing striking incentive schemes or giveaways in Frankfurt, writes David Davies. Trussing equipment company Litestructures also launched a major prize initiative at this year’s Prolight + Sound 2009, which took place earlier this month.
Devised to celebrate the launch of the new VQ LIVE line array product, which was exhibited throughout PL+S, Tannoy’s special offer promised an ATV Crossroad Sentinel quad bike for anyone ordering a minimum four-stack system during the duration of the show. The offer was one limited to one quad bike per customer, irrespective of order size and value.
Tannoy’s Mark Flanagan (pictured here with the prize quad bike) tells PSN-e that the promotion was “very successful. We closed half a dozen deals, although some of them couldn’t take the quad due to import restrictions on their markets. The promo was mainly aimed at our distributors more than end-users.”
Meanwhile, D_sseldorf-based distributor atlantic audio reinforced its long-term association with the DiGiCo brand by running a special competition involving the prize of a Mini Cooper One. All customers who purchased an SD8 console since its launch at PLASA 08 and the conclusion of this year’s Prolight + Sound were asked to participate, and the final winner is due to be revealed at the end of this month.
(As an aside, atlantic audio recently installed a lighting and audio system at The Brenngold Company’s new restaurant, located within the distinctive Gehry building of D_sseldorf’s MediaHarbour. The audio system majored on Martin Audio equipment, including AQ5 ultra-compact installation speakers, AQ112 and AQ210 subwoofers, C4.8T ceiling speakers and WTUB theatre enclosures. Brenngold’s marketing manager, Michael Kr_per, observed: “atlantic audio has installed the sound system so comprehensively that we can also provide coverage everywhere, including the outdoor terrace.”)
But the biggest prize offering belongs to British trussing and stage equipment manufacturer Litestructures., which is offering an Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster – to the first export distributor to buy a million euros’ worth of products during the promotional period (April 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010).
Litestructures’ managing director, Adrian Brooks, tells PSN-e: “As the designers and manufacturers of the world’s first aluminium trussing system we feel that this is the perfect time to re-establish the importance of our brand globally, and positioning ourselves as technical partners of Aston Martin with the chance to win one of their superb motor cars will help us to achieve this.
“Such has been the interest in the challenge so far that Litestructures have now agreed to supply the first three distributors to hit a million Euros with an Aston Martin apiece, the second and third prizes being coupe variants of the beautiful Vantage model. All distributors who participate in the challenge will win valuable prizes, and there are some great opportunities, including Aston Martin Racing hospitality at some of the major races along the way. Every distributor who participates in the challenge will win a worthwhile prize, simply for representing one of the world’s best-known staging and trussing brands; a real win-win!”
